Dr. R Poppy Punithan is a Consultant Gastroenterologist, ERCP and Interventional Endoscopist in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. She currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Gastroenterology at Government Thoothukudi Medical College (Tuticorin). Her private clinic in Nagercoil is located on MS Road opposite William Nursing Home. Dr. R Poppy Punithan is familiar with all diagnostic and interventional endoscopy procedures including ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography). Her field of interest is inflammatory bowel disease. She also does paediatric therapeutic endoscopy.
Dr. R Poppy Punithan completed her MBBS from Tirunelveli Medical College in 1995 and followed this up with an MD in Paediatrics from Madurai Medical College in 2002. She then worked for five years as Assistant Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at Kanyakumari Medical College. In 2010 Dr. R Poppy Punithan decided to specialise in Gastroenterology and moved to Anna Nagar Peripheral Hospital in Chennai to study and train for the DM (Gastro) superspeciality degree, which she obtained in 2013.
Dr. R Poppy Punithan regularly attends conferences and seminars on subjects relating to her areas of specialisation. She has won awards on several occasions for her papers and presentations at these events. She is a member of several medical associations connected with Paediatrics and Gastroenterology.
